Weekly Recap: Pregnancy, Yummy Food, & Easter Weekend!

Hello y’all & happy Monday! I hope that each of you had a wonderful & blessed Easter weekend. I still can’t believe we are already past Easter at this point. These past few months have flown by!

Jordan and I were able to enjoy a few different fun activities over the last week or so and I’m so excited to share it all with you. I hope you enjoy.

Now grab your coffee, tea, or wine (😉) and get to reading!

Jordan and I spent last Saturday primarily relaxing, cleaning, and watching some of our favorite shows. We finished up season 1 of “The One” on Netflix, which we both really liked.

Jordan also made my pregnancy craving dream come true by making me a delicious grilled chicken club. He grilled chicken breasts & applewood smoked bacon to perfection on the Traeger. I used whole wheat toast, Mayo, provolone cheese, and a little ranch to make it complete.

Our sweet friends Lauren & Jarrod got tested so we could all spend Sunday together. We missed them so much & enjoyed getting to catch up, have fun at Top Golf, eat some delicious food, and even show them our house for the first time!

Lauren is also pregnant so we ordered some refreshing mocktails at Top Golf. It has been so fun going through the pregnancy journey together so far!

We decided to make the most of getting to spend some time in person with Lauren & Jarrod, so we carried out hanging out with them on Monday as well. Lauren & I went for a 2.76 mile walk at my favorite park then the 4 of us grabbed some dinner at Rudy’s BBQ later that evening. If y’all are ever looking for a place to eat with some delicious BBQ & a big space for outdoor seating, Rudy’s is the place to go!

After tons of prayers, research, and more prayers, I made a very hard decision to move forward with getting the Pfizer vaccine for covid-19. I did not make this decision lightly & was so incredibly nervous walking into CVS Tuesday morning to have the vaccine administered + crying that evening worried about making the right choice for my baby. No matter what others views are on this (and I respect all views on this matter), I made this choice feeling that it was the best choice I could personally make for the health and safety of my baby, my family, and myself. This was the first big decision I’ve had to make in the interest of my baby boy and man did it scare me for future hard decisions. Parenting is hard, I know this personally already. Growing another human being inside you and constantly worrying about making the right choices to ensure his well-being is the hardest thing I have ever had to do, but it is also one of the most rewarding things. All I know for sure is that I cannot wait to birth & raise this sweet boy. August couldn’t come soon enough!

Surprise! Baby Muse’s name is out for everyone to know now. We wanted to take some time to make sure the first & middle name felt right before sharing it with everyone, but we couldn’t be happier with our choice. The name Kannon was Jordan’s favorite name for a little boy that he had loved for many, many years. I still remember falling in love with the name when he shared it with me back in our dating years. He told me that he could just picture raising a little baseball player named Kannon and I absolutely loved that.

Sparrow was a name that I had also loved for a very long time. I was a huge Pirates of the Caribbean fan when I was a kid & as I grew older I thought that Sparrow was such a cool name. When we started thinking about middle name’s Sparrow didn’t even cross my mind until I heard a song called “Sparrows” play on a Christian hits station randomly one day. After giving it a few weeks, it just felt right & I’m so glad that it ended up sounding epic as a middle name for our sweet baby boy.

I spent most of Wednesday trying to get some cleaning/chores done around the apartment before I had to coach that afternoon. I was feeling pretty worn out & my whole arm was fairly sore after having my shot the day before, but no bad symptoms which I was very thankful for! Jordan also had his first shot of the Pfizer vaccine on Tuesday evening and felt pretty similar to the way I did on Wednesday + having a headache.

For dinner Wednesday night, I made some quick and easy cheesy, garlic alfredo pizza’s. We devoured our pizza’s while we watched the premiere of Godzilla vs. Kong on HBO Max. Jordan had been looking forward to this movie for months!!

Thursday is typically my heaviest work day. I’m usually up no later than 5am and don’t wrap up my morning lessons until 11:30am. I had a nice little break between a couple of my lessons and decided to make my way to the park for a quick & gorgeous 1.56 mile walk.

Jordan picked Mila up from school Thursday to spend the extended weekend with us. First stop was at the ice rink for her lesson with me. Mila is doing so well with her skating and even mastered a new skill on Thursday evening called the 1-foot spin. She is going to be participating in her first skating event this Summer and couldn’t be more excited!

The 3 of us spent most of Good Friday enjoying the Houston Zoo. We had a blast getting to see all kinds of different animals & even got to experience the TXU Prehistoric Beasts Exhibit. The Prehistoric Beasts Exhibit had tons of different depictions of all kinds of prehistoric animals & the history of where their fossils were found, what sort of characteristics each of them had, and many other interesting facts.

We made the most of the beautiful scenery at the Houston Zoo to snap some bumpdate photos. Saturday marked 19 weeks of pregnancy, which meant baby Kannon was now the size of a mango (or one of this little aliens from Toy Story) weighing roughly 8.5 ounces and measuring around 6 inches long. I have my next ultrasound sound/anatomy scan in a couple of weeks to find out for sure just how big he is, but I can definitely tell that this boy has grown a lot lately.

My pregnancy symptoms haven’t been too bad during the 2nd trimester, which is very common and often known as “the best trimester.” The past week I have been experiencing some back pain, fatigue, and headaches. I’ve also noticed that I am already lacking room in my tummy especially after eating a meal. The past 2 weeks, I have felt Kannon start to move around + Jordan and I both have felt some little kicks. It is amazing to watch my body change and feel him more as the weeks go on. I honestly can’t believe that by next Saturday I will already be halfway through this pregnancy. Time is truly flying by!

Jordan took over cooking for brunch on Saturday morning. He made us both some DELICIOUS potato, spinach, egg, and cheese omelet’s paired with peach salsa.

We spent Saturday evening over at my parents house spending time together while we enjoyed dinner & decorated Easter eggs.

I devoured an Impossible Burger & some French fries from Red Robin while I sipped on a non-alcoholic Heineken beer. It was all so delicious!

We were all up by 9am & Mila was super ready to see what the Easter Bunny brought for her. She woke up to a basket full of goodies & over 30 eggs to hunt for.

We all enjoyed some pancakes & bacon while watching the first half of “Raya and the Last Dragon” on Disney Plus! That movie is so cute & has some the best graphics I have ever seen in an animated film.

After stopping by to visit with Jordan’s family for a little bit, we made our way over to my parents house to spend the rest of the evening there. We were welcomed with some delicious snacks & desserts. I made my favorite recipe of deviled eggs & a strawberry sheet cake as well.

That strawberry sheet cake was to die for…currently enjoying the leftovers!

We had such a fun evening going to war with each other for the family egg hunt, eating yummy food, watching the rest of “Raya and the Last Dragon,” and just simply enjoying each other’s company. It had been several weeks since I saw my entire family in person, so it was really nice getting to catch up!

I also had so much fun getting dressed up for the day. Outfit & hair details below!

Dress: Free People

Sandals: Steve Madden

Earrings: Kendra Scott

Hair Inspo: Hunter Premo’s Milkmaid Braids

Mila had the day off of school this Monday so we made the most of that opportunity as well as the warm weather to spend the afternoon in my parents pool! The adults ordered some Chicken Salad Chick to enjoy for lunch while the kiddos munched on some fruit & cheese pizza. I love Chicken Salad Chick’s dixie chick sandwich on a croissant with a side of their potato soup…yum!

After getting to spend some much needed time with our girl over this long weekend, we had to say “goodbye for now” to her this evening. I have a pretty busy work & study week ahead of me, so I have every intention to relax and just enjoy the rest of this evening with Jordan.

I hope that each of you had a wonderful weekend and have a nice & productive week ahead. I look forward to being back for another post very soon!

Questions for y’all:

1. If you’ve been vaccinated, how was your reaction to the vaccine?

2. What did you enjoy most over this Easter weekend?

3. What is your favorite dish to make for the holidays?

XOXO, Paige.
