Good afternoon & happy Friday y’all! I hope each of you had the most wonderful Christmas and NYE celebrations with your loved ones. This year looked a little different for us, but it was honestly one of the best Christmases we have ever had & I just felt so blessed to be able to spend the time with the people we love the most.
I have the first home update for you guys, which I am beyond excited to share. Sharing the process of our home build is something I am very much looking forward to, so I hope you guys enjoy!
Jordan and I had our first meeting at the Design Gallery to make all of the selections for the place we will soon call home. The experience was certainly overwhelming, but I was so happy that Jordan and I had the same vision when it came to colors, granite, exterior, tile, etc. I am also very thankful that Jordan has experience in building/remodeling homes, so that helped a lot. Plus, we had an amazing designer, Madeline, who helped make our experience even more enjoyable and helped make us feel more at ease by doing her best to show us how the things we liked would actually look in our home.
Now, are y’all ready to see our selections?
The exterior colors of the home was probably the easiest choice to make. We had found some exterior color inspiration from Pinterest (of course) and the Design Gallery had almost exactly what we were looking for. Our garage doors will be a beige color when the home is built, but we will eventually paint them the darker grey/black to match the trim color of the house.
•Brick: Summer Ash by Meridian
•Base Color: Eiffel Tower
•Trim & Front Door Color: Artillery

The kitchen selections were probably the hardest to decide on… We originally thought we would choose a light grey cabinet with coordinating granite, but we took one look at the Bianco Antico granite and fell in love. This granite paired beautifully with a white laminate cabinet, which is going to look nice & bright in our open kitchen. The same granite will also be used in the master bathroom.
And here are the rest of the selections for tile, carpet, bathroom cabinets, interior wall color, baseboard color, grout, and kitchen backsplash. I also have shared the floor-plan layout that shows you where the carpet & tile will be + what the floor-plan of the entire house looks like.
•The lighter colored tile (Port West Grey) will be used throughout the floor of most of the downstairs & bathrooms in 18×18 with a walnut grout.
•The darker tile (Habitat Marrone) will be used for the master shower, master bath backsplash, and around our fireplace in 12×12 with a charcoal grout.
•The fireplace will come with a plain wood mantle that we will eventually swap out for a railroad tie. That will be a fun project to share with you! It was also 100% Jordan’s idea.
•The additional full bathrooms will have white cultured marble countertops & white subway tile for the bath/shower backsplash.
•The kitchen backsplash will be set in a 3×12 tile, herringbone style. I am so excited about this one!
•The interior wall color will be painted in Seagull & the baseboards will be painted in Delicate White.
It was crazy to make all the decisions of what we will be putting in our soon-to-be home in a matter of 3 hours, but I couldn’t be happier with the selections we made. I cannot wait to watch our house be built & to be moving in with my little family by early summer this year.
One more thing before I wrap up today’s post! I promised you guys a little surprise, so here it is….
WE’RE HAVING A BABY!!!! Baby Muse (or the Muse babies) will be arriving at the end of August 2021. We are beyond excited and feel incredibly blessed with all of the miracles that have come our way in the last few months. Building a home & growing a baby at the same time is bringing me so much joy and it’s only just the beginning.
I’m also so glad that I am able to use this small space on the internet to share my life with you all. I can’t wait to continue taking you along with me throughout this entire journey. Thank you for being so supportive and hanging around to read my posts over the years. This month marks 6 years since I created my blog and I am so darn thankful that I did! You guys have been here with me throughout my entire adulthood so far and I’ve been able to share all of the most exciting life events with you. It truly is incredible.
I’ll be back to write again very soon! I hope you all have an amazing weekend.
XOXO, Paige.
Congrats Paige (and family) two such big “projects” all in one years! As a new homeowner myself I would recommend you make sure that you revisit the carpet situation. I went with builder grade carpet and I am already planning the replacement of it and I’ve only lived in the house 6 months. I am thinking I’ll be replacing it at the year mark. Not good. I’d recommend upgrading if at all possible!
When is Baby Muse due??
