Ready for Christmas while still loving Fall: Halloween, Mila’s Birthday, & The Tree is Up!

Hey y’all & happy Friday!! I hope that you all have been doing well & enjoyed an awesome Halloween. You’re in for a treat with today’s 2-week recap. I hope you all enjoy!

Now grab your coffee, tea, or wine (😉) and get to reading:

I left you guys last post right before the 3 of us arrived at my family’s annual Halloween party. They had a small get together with close friends & family. It was so nice to get to spend time with so many people that I hadn’t seen in months. Jordan & I also had a blast dressing up as Colonel Sanders and his chicken! However, the feathers from my costume ended up all over the place lol. Mila was also the cutest, little Harley Quinn.

Once I finished working, Jordan, Mila, and I enjoyed our Halloween afternoon at Crust Pizza Co. for lunch followed by some fun at the park.

We got together with my parents & our friends, Lauren & Jarrod, to take the kids trick-or-treating for a little while and then ended the night spending some time at Jordan’s parents house. It was a very fun-filled evening & the kids scored tons of good candy.

Sunday was exactly what we needed, relaxing. We all slept in & I made some chocolate chip protein pancakes with scrambled eggs for breakfast. Later in the afternoon, we headed over to Jordan’s parents house to enjoy dinner and let Mila ride around on her bike with NO training wheels. She did such a great job balancing. I also brought my bike over and went for a short ride around the neighborhood.

Jordan’s Dad made some yummy shrimp & axis fajitas for us all to enjoy for dinner.

Our schedule with Mila has changed a little bit and Jordan has been able to pick her up & take her to school now, which means we get even more time with her. We have been so happy about getting extra time with our sweet girl & I have also loved helping her get ready for school in the mornings. Huk wanted to join in on Mila’s school picture that morning.

Jordan and I had an at-home date night for Election Day. Even though we were disappointed to not find out what the verdict was that evening, we had a great time relaxing with some wine by the fire & enjoying some amazing food. Jordan grills the best meat. We had grilled lamb ribs, grilled asparagus, ranch style beans, & mashed potatoes. Holy moly it was amazing!!

Last weekend was busy, busy, busy (hence why there was not a recap last Friday..) planning for Mila’s 6th birthday party. We planned a circus themed party at a local park and were able to rent an entire pavilion for us all to gather at. Mila and all of her friends had so much fun playing & she was blessed with so many awesome gifts. We felt so happy getting to watch her spend time with her friends and family after having a year of so much separation.

Once we got everything cleaned up from the party, we made our way to my parents for a relaxing evening in the backyard. They ordered pizza from Crust Pizza Co. we watched some shows & played corn-hole while the kids wore themselves out on the trampoline. It was a fun way to end a long day.

We put up our Christmas tree on Sunday! Some of you might be shaking your head at me, but I honestly don’t care because it made me happy. I grew up in a household where Christmas decor was put up the day after Halloween and since I’ve moved out on my own I’ve actually waited until right around or after Thanksgiving to decorate, but there is something about Christmas decor that just brings more joy & comfort to your home, so we decided to do it early after this crazy year we’ve all endured.

The three of us spent the day primarily relaxing, opening up Mila’s new toys/trying on her new clothes, tidying up, baking cookies, & putting up the tree. It was such a great day! ❤️

Monday was Mila’s actual birthday. I still cannot believe she is 6-years old already… Jordan and I got her a super cute Birthday Princess t-shirt & Birthday Girl headband to wear to school that day. She was so excited & looked very cute!

We got to spend a couple of hours with her later that evening, so we planned a dinner at Olive Garden (one of her favorites) with our immediate family. We also surprised her big time with her very own pair of figure skates. She was SO excited!! I have been teaching her weekly since we now have more time with her and she has been loving learning how to skate and improving every single week.

I enjoyed a really beautiful 4 mile walk in between my lessons on Wednesday morning. The weather was perfect, sky was beautiful, and I had a great podcast to listen to.

Wednesday evening I made one of Jordan and I’s favorite plant-based dishes. This vegetable medley paired with a side of couscous is so flavorful & filling. We have been eating out a lot the last few weeks mainly due to both of us being so busy with work/events and I have noticed a big difference in how I feel physically and mentally. I definitely want to get back into the groove of meal prepping our lunches and cooking dinners at home more again. Hopefully next week we can get back on track with that.

I spent my Thursday morning work break soaking up the sunshine & enjoying a crepe and some coffee while writing most of today’s recap. Jordan and I are currently on our way to Fredricksburg, TX to celebrate our first wedding anniversary (can you believe it has almost been a year since we got married?!), so I wanted to make sure I had this post ready to go before we hit the road today.

I gave Mila a skating lesson Thursday afternoon in her brand new skates & she looked like a total pro! She was so excited to wear them and did an awesome job getting use to them on the first day. I absolutely love getting to teach her every single week now. 💕

Jordan, Mila, and I wrapped up our evening with some spaghetti, garlic toast, and Lady & the Tramp.

Huk & Luna wanted to join Mila’s before school picture this morning. We got our girl all ready to conquer the day & then got packed up for the 2 of us to hit the road.

Now we are making our way to Fredricksburg to celebrate our anniversary & I am so excited. It will be both of our first time to visit this famous, wine-loving town and I can’t wait to share our experience with you all, so be on the lookout for that post!

I hope each of you have a wonderful weekend. I’ll be back to write again very soon!

XOXO, Paige.
