Wedding Planning, UT Game, & Tropical Storm Imelda!

Good morning y’all! Breakfast has been eaten, coffee has been made, now it’s time for some blogging!

I hope that each of you have had a wonderful week and are staying safe & dry throughout all of these tropical storms/hurricanes. Tropical Storm Imelda is quickly making it’s way over towards me, so I’m getting prepared/soaking in the nice rainy weather time. Hopefully once the storm passes we can finally be blessed with some cooler weather. Fingers crossed!

Today’s post won’t be very long & might be a little repetitive because most of my week’s lately have been filled with the same things: walks, wedding planning, eating eggs, and work. This past week wasn’t much different, but I have enjoyed all of it. Getting so much wedding planning done each week has taken so much stress off my shoulders. It’s nice being able to think about how I really don’t have too much left to do before the big day arrives. Last Wednesday, I went over to my parents to spend a few hours working on chalk painting more wine bottles & creating address labels for the wedding invitations. My mom ordered us some Chinese takeout for lunch, so I munched on some spring rolls & peppered steak while working away.

I didn’t get a single picture last Thursday.. I spent the entire day either on the ice working or on my computer finishing up the address labels & editing our wedding website. By the evening my brain was fried and I was exhausted!

After work on Friday morning, I hit the trails for a nice walk/run. I was so excited to see a small portion of leaves beginning to change and the fact that it was actually 75 degrees rather than mid 80s that morning. P.S. I’m still completely obsessed with my new ASICS! Aren’t they beautiful?! Friday evening, Jordan and I decided to stay in and make dinner. He made an incredible seafood pasta that had sea scallops, penne pasta, roasted red peppers, light Alfredo sauce, Tony’s seasoning, chili powder, and garlic salt. It was AMAZING!! I also popped open a bottle of Ménage a Trois for us to enjoy. We began watching “Bad Times at the El Royale” while we ate our pasta.

Spending the evenings at home cooking dinner together is one of my absolute favorite date nights! It’s nice to just have an evening with him & I and be able to come up with a new, fun recipe together. Saturday was a very fun day! We got tickets to watch UT vs Rice at NRG stadium with some friends. We arrived at NRG a few hours before the game started to do some tailgating. The stadium had a Rudy’s BBQ tent offering free, delicious food and we also found a Jameson tent where they had awesome music playing and corn-hole set up, which we obviously utilized. It was a great day!

I spent the beginning of Sunday watching the Texans play with Jordan & his family then headed to my little brother’s birthday party at a trampoline park. He was having such a blast with all his little friends! I ended up jumping on the trampolines myself, but I quickly realized I had drank too much wine the night before to actually enjoy jumping. Oh what it’s like to be a kid lol! Sunday evening, Jordan & I hit up one of our favorite places to eat, Craft Grill. I ordered a sirloin with grilled asparagus & mashed potatoes. It was very yummy!! Monday was a dreary day. I spent the morning time enjoying breakfast & reading a book Jordan bought me for my birthday. This book is literally INCREDIBLE. I highly recommend any long-term or married couple to read it. The insight it gives you on how to truly love/show your love to your spouse is very specific & extremely helpful. I’ve been obsessed with reading this book all week!

Behind the book lies a whole wheat bagel with 2 whole eggs & 1 egg white and a cup of Fall blend coffee with pumpkin spice coffee creamer. 🍳☕️🎃 I spent the rest of Monday working on organizing/cleaning our apartment. Once Jordan came home from work, we completed a quick workout at our apartment gym, which included 1 mile of cardio & 3 sets of sumo/goblet squats. For dinner we ate lobster & Salmon pinwheels from H-E-B with some basil & herb couscous. During my work break Tuesday morning, I headed over to the trails for a 1.80 mile walk. Unfortunately it began raining pretty hard a little over half way through my walk, so I got soaked and my new shoes got a little dirty, which really sucked, but at least I got my exercise in and it wasn’t brutally hot outside. This morning I woke up early to make Jordan & I both some breakfast before he headed to the office. I love it when we’re able to start our days together like this even if it’s only for 15 minutes.

Now that I’ve got this post wrapped up, I plan to get some reading in, cleaning done, and hopefully some kind of workout! Houston has flash flood warnings almost all day, so we shall see what ends up happening with the storm. I hope y’all have a great rest of your week & I’ll be back to write again very soon!

XOXO, Paige.

Hi! So much yummy food in this post, haha. I’ve been meaning to read the 5 Love Languages, but I’ve put it on the back burner for the time being. Maybe this is a sign to start it? I can’t imagine how frequent you get flash flood warnings, but I guess it’s similar to the weather forecasts of tornado warnings where I am. Stay safe, and have fun wedding planning!

Hi Stephanie, thanks for stopping by!! I highly recommend reading the book. I have been glued to it the last week and have been super encouraged by all of the knowledge I have gained.

The flash flood warnings this week have been insane. I’m not sure if you’ve seen, but Houston had a ton of water yesterday. Luckily I stayed home most of the day to be safe and didn’t endure any flooding at my home. Where are you from?

Sorry for the delay! WordPress isn’t notifying me if anyone comments back to me, so I probably don’t have something set right, haha. I will definitely put the book on my list!

I did hear a little about it. I don’t blame you for staying home! Hope everything was safe and well on your end! I’m living in Nashville, TN. My husband and I recently moved here. 🙂
