Hey y’all, I’m so happy to be back again for another weekly recap! I hope that you all have had a terrific week and I cannot wait to share mine with you.
This last week was such a great one, so let’s begin with last Saturday! 😊I worked a little bit Saturday morning, but I couldn’t wait to get off to enjoy an exciting day. Our apartment complex was throwing their annual summer pool party and this was the first one that we have been apart of. The party was so much fun that I absolutely can’t wait until next year’s.
They had a DJ, raffle prizes (like flat screen TV’s & Google Mini’s), tons of fun games (Jordan & I did a balloon toss game, which I sucked at. I did belly flop competition, which was a terrible decision. Mila won a cannon ball competition and earned herself an awesome giant dragon float), good food & snow cones, and a slip & slide. It was seriously such a good time! It started pouring a little after the pool party ended, so we got dressed to head out for dinner and a movie. Mila looked so cute in her rain boots, jacket, and PJ’s.
We went to Torchy’s Tacos for dinner before going to see the new Jurassic World movie. I ordered a potato, egg, and cheese & bacon, egg, and cheese taco with their poblano salsa. Jordan ordered two Trailer Park Tacos “trashy,” which means “with queso.”
Jordan and Mila loved the movie and I really enjoyed going to see it again! On Sunday, we went Downtown to the Houston Aquarium. This is one of my absolute favorite places to go and Jordan hadn’t been in years, so it was fun to enjoy it with him & Mila.
We started off looking at tons of beautiful fish, snakes, and other reptiles.
These guys are upside down jellyfish, which I thought were super cool looking.
I liked this guy or girl. Who knows?
One of my favorite parts of the Aquarium is getting to see their white tigers. Isn’t it just beautiful? I also loved the whole tongue sticking out look. 😉
After petting some sting rays, we hopped on board the train to go for a shark tour.
There were some cool sharks in the tank, but I think this sawfish was my favorite. It was lying right on top of us just chilling in the tank. Do any of you guys like sharks? I’ve been obsessed since I was a kid and count down the days until “Shark Week” each year. It’s actually on my bucket list to go in a shark cage to see some great whites one day.
We also enjoyed some fun rides like this and the giant Ferris Wheel.
It was a very fun & hot day! I spent Monday watching after Mila & her new friend, Addi. We colored, watched “Ella Enchanted,” and swam at the pool.
I made myself a tuna fish sandwich for lunch. I mix canned tuna with light miracle whip & mustard and add Fritos on top in the sandwich. I have been eating my tuna fish sandwiches like this since I was about 5 years old. Some things never change.
For dinner Jordan grilled us both some amazing steaks & poppers.
Tuesday morning, I had to work pretty early and I headed over to La Madeleine for breakfast. I ordered their American Breakfast with wheat toast instead of a croissant.
I didn’t take many pictures this day because started to really not feel well… my tonsils, tongue, and uvula started swelling and I started to get a pretty bad migraine. I napped for a little while and then Jordan took Mila and I to dinner, which was great. It wasn’t a very eventful day for me, but I did get some necessary rest. Wednesday was concert day!!! I bought tickets to go see Niall Horan & Marren Morris at the Cynthia Woods Pavilion for Bailey’s 21st birthday and we were so excited! Davis came with us too!!
Our first stop was dinner! We went to a place called “The Counter,” which is a spot where you can create your own burgers or chicken sandwiches, they even have a bunch of good looking vegetarian options too. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich on a Hawaiian bun with provolone cheese, bacon, and ranch. It was delicious!
We had lawn seats and scored a great spot right in the middle!
Chardonnay for a hot day! It was sweltering outside.
I love this venue because it has such a fun aura about it, but it’s definitely a better place to go when it’s cooler outside. Also, I highly recommend that if you’re sitting in the lawn to bring a blanket or towel to sit on.
Marren Morris and Niall Horan were both amazing. I loved every bit of their show!
I went to the doctor Wednesday before the concert to find out that I do have a bad throat infection, I’ve also been dealing with mouth ulcers, and an ear piercing infection…. so I got some antibiotics on Thursday morning to help with everything. Even though my week has truly been a blast and I’ve been making the most of it, I have not been feeling well at all so working out has been out of the question unfortunately. I’ve decided to start my 8-week summer fitness challenge completely over beginning Monday as long as I’m feeling better, so I’ll keep you updated with that on my Instagram story.
Eating has been very painful, so I opted for softer foods on Thursday. I had some oatmeal for breakfast and organic cheese ravioli & a slice of garlic toast for lunch. I ended up feeling a bit better on Thursday night after work (and taking Motrin), so I managed to eat 1 seasoned chicken drumstick & a bunch of poppers. I’m obsessed with poppers right now if y’all can’t tell and I don’t think Jordan minds one bit.
This morning, I woke up before the sun (5am) to go coach a little bit of skating. Waking up that early surprisingly made me feel refreshed and ready to take on today! I grabbed Jordan & I some coffees on my way back and enjoyed mine with a Luna Bar for breakfast.
Now that I’ve wrapped up this post I’m going to get some cleaning done before Mila & I have a fun-filled rest of our day. I hope that you guys have a wonderful weekend and I can’t wait to be back soon!
XOXO, Paige.
