My Silver Lining

“Sometimes the best thing you can do is not think, not wonder, not imagine, not obsess. Just breathe and have faith that everything will work out for the best.” -Unknown

I briefly mentioned in my last post that my life has been very difficult lately. I’ve been going through some extreme changes, which has left me incredibly anxious and scared. I’m the type of person that overthinks literally anything that I can and always wonders “what if.” What if this goes wrong? What if this happens this specific way? How will I handle this if it happens? I’ve been driving myself completely nuts, but the past weekend I’ve forced myself to try and relax and enjoy the time I have and things I’m doing as much as I can. I can’t live my life overthinking, especially negative thoughts. No one can.

Thursday, July 26th, I moved into my very own apartment. Looking for apartments was fun, but a little stressful. I wanted to make sure I found a place that felt like home because it was going to be my new home. I wanted it to be in a good location and I wanted to feel safe. I finally found the perfect one. Once I have all of my things unpacked and organized, I will post tons of pictures of my new, cute place.

My first night in the apartment, all I had was my bed, some kitchen supplies, a few articles of clothing, and shower necessities. I ran to the store late that night to buy some eggs, biscuits, and a new soft blanket to sleep with. The following Saturday, I went to Big Texas with Brittany and Jordan. I hadn’t gone dancing with Jordan in such a long time. It felt so good to be in his arms and having fun on the dance floor together again. Sunday was moving day!! I had movers come get all of the heavy things, while I loaded my car with the rest. I was exhausted by the time I got everything up in my place, but I had plans to watch GOT with my aunt that night, so I got showered and ready to go!She made some delicious tacos and a margarita sangria. It was some of the best sangria I ever had and that GOT episode was epic!

Later that week, my Dad and Hud came by to install my TV. Hudson and I had fun playing knights, eating cookies, and weight lifting together. I baked cookies for Hudson since they are his favorite. ❤️ I have been obsessed with tacos lately, so I made some for my Dad and I. H-E-B’s guacamole and tortillas are delicious!  I also spent some time during my first week at the new place hanging out by the pool. Both times I went there was no one there, so I enjoyed my music and read while soaking up some much needed sunshine. The following Friday, I went with Jordan and his family for some fajitas and margaritas at El Tiempo. It was so yummy and we all had a great time!

Saturday, I met my family at Hopdoddy. I had already eaten a huge lunch so I just snacked on some of their garlic Parmesan fries and had some Pinot noir. Before we left, we all tried out the hoolahoops for some fun.

After Hopdoddy, we all went to see the new “Emoji Movie.” It actually turned out to be a really cute movie with a good message. Always remember to embrace who you are rather then trying to fit in with the crowd.

My family also came by to see my place because only my Dad and Hudson had seen it so far. They all loved it. On Sunday, Jordan and I went to church in the morning and then met his family out on the lake. I had just told Jordan a few days before that a day on the lake sounded amazing and his parents were already planning to take the boat out. It was perfect! They had stuff for sandwiches on the boat for lunch, so I made myself a chicken & turkey breast sandwich with mayo and mustard. I always think he looks so handsome going out to wake board. 😍 Last Monday, I went over to my dear friend, Ashton’s apartment for some dinner and the finale of the Bachelorette. Ash made this amazing baked ziti dish with some salad that was dressed with strawberries, Parmesan cheese, and poppyseed dressing.

I had only watched about two episodes of the Bachelorette before the finale, so I barely knew a thing. I was very disappointed in what I saw that night. It was clear that she was in love with Peter yet she chose the other guy..? I’m not sure if it was the editing of the show or if she just simply wanted an engagement and didn’t really care who was going to do it.

On Wednesday, I went to Mak’s sports bar with my grandparents, Jordan, and Fallon to watch the pre-season Texans game. It was so much fun!! After work on Thursday evening, I came home and made myself some steak on a cast iron grill, seasoned potatoes in the oven, and seasoned zucchini on the skillet. It turned out fantastic and I cannot wait to make it again. I finally got my nails done this past Friday. It felt so good to get my legs and feet massaged. I got my fingers dipped for the first time. It was super cool and I love how they turned out!! Another Friday night spent at El Tiempo. I enjoyed some skinny margaritas and chicken fajitas. Jordan’s birthday was July 27th, but for his present I booked a hotel at the Waterway for this past Saturday. Once he and I both finished working, we got ready and headed to our hotel room 🙂 We both loved our view. After we got changed into some nicer clothes, we headed to the Cheesecake Factory. He ordered a pineapple mule and I went with a cosmo.I ordered this fantastic breaded chicken dish that was served with a lemon zest sauce, mashed potatoes, and asparagus.Jordan ordered the shrimp fettuccine alfredo.

I caught the tail end of him dancing while we looked for swim trunks. We planned on visiting the hotel pool, but never ended up getting around to it. We had such a fun night together bar hopping, smoking cigars, and dancing the rest of the night away. Its really nice to get away and do something fun with just the two of us even if we didn’t go that far. It was also nice to just take a step back from everything going on and enjoy ourselves. His love and support for me lately has been endless.

We woke up starving the next day. We headed to the mall to return the non-used swim trunks and got ourselves some philly sandwiches. I ordered the buffalo chicken philly, which I ended up not being the biggest fan of, and Jordan ordered the California chicken philly. Jordan’s sandwich tasted amazing, so I took a few bites of his. Sunday night I cooked one of my favorite dishes. My Mom’s black bean and brown rice recipe along with some Southwest Ancho Tilapia.

First, I sautéed olive oil, garlic and onions in a skillet. Then I added a can of black beans & long grain wild rice. Cooked it all together until it was nice and warm. For the tilapia, I covered either side in Adam’s reserve Southwest Ancho seasoning and added a little bit of garlic salt as well. I cooked the seasoned tilapia in olive oil until it was white all the through. I brought the dish over to Jordan’s to eat and watch some TV shows. We began the first season of House of Cards to start something neither of us had seen before last night’s episode of GOT. Episode 5 of Game of Thrones was amazing!! I woke up this morning feeling positive and ready to accomplish things!! I made myself some yummy breakfast. Toasted a wheat English muffin, cooked 2 whole eggs & 2 egg whites in the skillet, and cooked some bacon in the oven. I also made myself some coffee with the Dunkin’ Donuts French vanilla k-cup. After spending hours unpacking, I took a break and made myself a sandwich. I used whole wheat bread, honey baked ham deli meat, provolone cheese, mustard, and light mayo. I also had some tortilla chips and guacamole on the side. I unpacked some more and then decided to hang out by the pool for an hour to relax and try to get my skin a little darker. It was nice having the pool to myself again, but boy was it hot out there. I had to run into H-E-B to grab a few groceries before I met Jordan at the new sushi place they now have inside called, Yumai. They make some good sushi and you can order to go and take it home so easily with how close it is….and they have wine. 😉🍷

My weekend and this Monday turned out to be pretty good!! Going to continue to keep my head up and trust that God has great plans for my life. I hope that each of you are doing well and that if you’re going through hard times like I am, this post can remind you to try your best to be positive. I know I haven’t been and I know it’s harder to do than it is to say, but it is the only thing that is going to keep you and I from drowning. Stay strong my friends and find your silver lining.

XOXO, Paige.
